The Michael Daniel Bam Foundation is driven by a commitment to equity, compassion, and action. At the heart of our work are carefully designed initiatives that directly respond to the needs of our communities. Each project is rooted in the belief that lasting change starts with intentional, people-centred efforts. We believe that as a society, we rise by lifting others - because we will only truly rise if we lift one another. Through every initiative, we are lifting our nation - one person, one act, one step at a time.
Project Eudaimonia

Project Eudaimonia began with a simple act of kindness. At just 14 years old, founder, Michael-Daniel Bam, used his own pocket money to prepare and deliver 25 nourishing meals to individuals experiencing homelessness in his local park. What started as a small gesture has since grown into the core initiative of the Foundation, rooted in compassion, dignity, and the belief that everyone deserves joy - especially during the holidays.
This project provides warm meals and U-Turn vouchers to individuals in need, primarily those experiencing homelessness in areas such as Claremont, Rondebosch, and Kenilworth. Each carefully prepared parcel not only nourishes the body but also brings hope and a sense of belonging. Our focus is to create human connection and restore dignity during seasons that often highlight isolation for many.
Project Eudaimonia takes place every Easter and Christmas. Since its inception, it has touched the lives of over 325 individuals - and we’re just getting started. Eudaimonia is a Greek word meaning a state of human flourishing or living well. It reflects a deep sense of fulfilment, purpose, and joy found through meaningful action and connection.
Project Plýsi
Project Plýsi was born from the belief that dignity is a human right, not a privilege. Michael-Daniel Bam, the Foundation’s founder, recognised that access to hygiene is essential for health and self-worth. With the understanding that hygiene and well-being go hand in hand, this initiative was created to ensure everyone has access to the basic hygiene products they need to feel human and cared for.
The project provides hygiene parcels filled with essential personal care items - soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and more. These are distributed through a central hub at the Cape Town Central Library, allowing for consistent and accessible support to those who need it most.
Project Plýsi was piloted during Human Rights Week, a fitting launch that speaks to our core values. In its first run, it reached 24 people in need, and we are working toward expanding its reach. Plýsi is a Greek word meaning "to wash" or "to cleanse." It represents renewal, dignity, and the essential right to cleanliness as part of living a healthy, respectful life.
