MDB Foundation partners with Takealot

The Michael Daniel Bam Foundation is proud to share a powerful moment of impact made possible through collaboration, trust, and youth leadership.

In partnership with Takealot, South Africa’s largest e-commerce company, the Foundation officially handed over and installed R65,000 worth of equipment at Groote Schuur Hospital’s Adolescent Centre of Excellence (ACE).

This donation, supported through Takealot’s in-house fitness brand GetUp, included a range of items designed to promote movement, confidence, and wellbeing among adolescents receiving care at ACE. Equipment such as a GetUp table tennis table, yoga mats, fitness trampolines, five Smart TVs, and additional resources will directly support ACE’s FitClub, the hospital’s obesity clinic for adolescents.

The FitClub plays a vital role in creating a safe, engaging, and supportive environment where young people can build healthy habits, regain confidence, and focus on holistic healing. This contribution enhances those efforts by transforming spaces into areas that encourage physical activity, connection, and positive self-esteem.

What makes this partnership particularly meaningful is Takealot’s trust in youth to lead the execution of the donation, allowing young people to play a hands-on role in delivering impact within their own communities.

The Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to Frederik Zietsman, CEO of the Takealot Group, and Aneekah Fataar, Head of Sustainability at Takealot, for championing youth wellbeing and helping make this meaningful partnership possible.

This initiative stands as a reminder of what can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared commitment to impact, empowerment, and action.

This is the power of collaboration.
This is the power of youth leadership.
